Erkki Jorma Kontio, född 7 augusti 1953 i Uleåborg, Norra Österbotten, är en finländsk travkusk och före detta travtränare. Kontio är Finlands och Nordens segerrikaste travkusk genom tiderna med över 11 000 segrar. Han är förstekusk hos Timo Nurmos och Katja Melkko.
Kontio har kört stjärnhästar som Readly Express, Opal Viking, Etain Royal, Varenne, Järvsöfaks, Gigant Neo, Up And Quick, Vala Boko, Sahara Dynamite, Red Hot Dynamite, Lisa America, Yatzy Brodda, Mellby Viking, Remington Crown, Villiam, Vitruvio, Jokivarren Kunkku och Houston Laukko.
Kontio är far till Anna-Julia Kontio.
Karriär
Kontio vann sitt första travlopp redan som 13-åring 1967 med hästen Ulla-Maija. Kontio var proffstränare vid Teivo travbana från 1976 till 2001. Han avslutade sin travtränarkarriär 1994 och är sedan dess travkusk, catch driver, på heltid. Sedan 2001, då Kontio med familj flyttade till Enköping, är han verksam i Sverige.[1]
Han har representerat Finland i World Driving Championship tre gånger, 1993, 1999 och 2001[2], och även segrat i Europeiskt mästerskap för kuskar 1985 och 1998.[3][4]
Den 22 juli 2007 tog Kontio karriärens 8 000:e seger med hästen Vala Boko, vilket gjorde honom till Nordens segerrikaste travkusk.[5][6] Den 16 augusti 2015 tog Kontio sin 10 000:e seger när han vann lopp med hästen Evartti i Pihtipudas i Finland.
2019 valdes han in i Travsportens Hall of Fame.[7]
Olyckor
Kontio har under sin karriär varit inblandad i flertalet olyckor på travbanorna. 2016 i Uleåborg föll han ur sulkyn bakom Surprise Lord, men klarade sig utan större skador.[8][9]
Kontio var tillsammans med sin fru Päivi uppfödare och ägare till valacken La Verite (efter Readly Express) som spåddes en ljus framtid på travbanorna, men avled under ett lopp den 9 februari 2022 på Solvalla.[10]

The Flag of Europe is the flag and emblem of the European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (CoE). It consists of a circle of 12 golden (yellow) stars on a blue background. It was created in 1955 by the CoE and adopted by the EU, then the European Communities, in the 1980s.
The CoE and EU are distinct in membership and nature. The CoE is a 47-member international organisation dealing with human rights and rule of law, while the EU is a quasi-federal union of 27 states focused on economic integration and political cooperation. Today, the flag is mostly associated with the latter.
It was the intention of the CoE that the flag should come to represent Europe as a whole, and since its adoption the membership of the CoE covers nearly the entire continent. This is why the EU adopted the same flag. The flag has been used to represent Europe in sporting events and as a pro-democracy banner outside the Union.
