Cladonia grayi G. Merr. ex Sandst., 1929

Photographed in the field.   Assumed to be Cladonia grayi which is the most prevalent chemical variant of a complex that includes: C. chlorophaea, C. cryptochlorophaea, and C. merochlorophaea.

These specimens of Cladonia grayi were growing on soil along a gravel road between Deer Park Road and the Visitor Center at the Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area, Owings Mills, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA (N 39^o24.716',   W 76^o50.164').
