Uruguays riksvapen i sin nuvarande form går tillbaka till 1908. Vågen står för jämlikhet och rättvisa, berget Montevideo för styrka och hästen och oxen för frihet och välstånd. Den ovala skölden omges av oliv och lagerkvistar.

Se simbolizan el sol de nuestra Bandera Nacional, el Río Olimar, las lanzas de los 33 Orientales, un túmulo sobre las ondas del río que es una tumba indígena con las armas cruzadas, y la flor del Ceibo, nuestra flor nacional.
