OceanGate Titan schematic.svg

Schematic providing overall dimensions of the Titan submersible designed and built by OceanGate. Titan is depicted in a side view, with the forward hatch to the left. The pressure hull consists of three major components: two hemispherical titanium end caps, joined to a cylindrical carbon fiber composite hull via titanium interface pieces which are bonded to the carbon fiber hull and bolted to the end caps. The composite hull and aft end cap are surrounded by a glass fiber composite shroud. There are two thrusters per side, one vertical and one horizontal. This drawing is to the scale of 1 pixel = 1 cm. Human figures, as drawn on the Pioneer 10 plaque, have been added for scale. According to the schematics on the plaque, the woman is 168 cm.

Overall dimensions (6.7 m long and 2.5 m high) are taken from the OceanGate specification sheet: Titan 5-Person Submersible | 4,000 meters. OceanGate. Archived from the original on June 22, 2023. Retrieved on June 20, 2023.

The dimensions for the cylindrical carbon fiber hull were taken from stated design specifications in a news article published by CompositesWorld: Sloan, Jeff (May 10, 2017). "Composite submersibles: Under pressure in deep, dep waters". CompositesWorld.

According to the Titan specification sheet, the thrusters are Innerspace model 1002. Thruster dimensions are taken from the manufacturer's website: Model 1002 series electric thrusters. Innerspace Thrusters. and the profile was simplified for graphical purposes. News photographs of the Titan indicate the thrusters were mounted directly to the fiberglass shell without fairings, although an earlier version (the hull was rebuilt after 2020) may have incorporated fairings for the vertical thrusters, as shown in an Everett Herald news article: Davey, Stephanie (March 9, 2020). "Titanic in reach as Everett's OceanGate works with NASA". Everett Herald..

The viewport is stated to be 15 inches in diameter and 7 inches thick. Petapixel states the diameter (presumably for the outside surface) is 21 inches: Growcoot, Matt (June 20, 2023). "Missing Titanic Submarine Regularly Used for Filmmaking and Photography". PetaPixel..

This is a panorama of the ALVIN on the fantail (stern) of the R/V Atlantis following a dive. On the right side of the photograph the A-frame crane can be seen that lowers the ALVIN into the water and on the left, the ALVIN's hangar.
