Rhizocarpon hochstetteri är en lavart[1] som först beskrevs av Körb., och fick sitt nu gällande namn av Vain. Rhizocarpon hochstetteri ingår i släktet Rhizocarpon och familjen Rhizocarpaceae.[2][3] Arten är reproducerande i Sverige.[4] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[2]
