Portugals autonoma regioner

Portugals autonoma regioner (portugisiska: Regiões Autónomas de Portugal) består av de två ögrupperna Azorerna (Região Autónoma dos Açores) och Madeira (Região Autónoma da Madeira) vilka utgör självstyrande delar av Portugal. Tillsammans med Kontinentala Portugal (Portugal Continental) utgör de landets territorium.

Indelning

På Azorerna finns det 19 kommuner (concelhos) och 155 församlingar (freguesias).[1] Madeira har 11 kommuner och 54 församlingar[1], medan hela Portugal består av 308 kommuner och 3 091 församlingar[2]. Kontinentala Portugal är även indelat i arton distrikt[3].

The nine stars represent the nine islands which are: São Miguel, São Jorge, Terceira, Santa Maria, Graciosa, Faial, Pico, Flores, and Corvo.

The bird represent the goshawk which the word Azores derived from.

The shield represents the lesser arm of Portugal, of which the Azores is an autonomous region.
