Enligt Catalogue of Life[1] ingår Placynthiella i familjen Trapeliaceae, ordningen Baeomycetales, klassen Lecanoromycetes, divisionen sporsäcksvampar och riket svampar,[1] men enligt Dyntaxa[2] är tillhörigheten istället familjen Agyriaceae, ordningen Agyriales, klassen Lecanoromycetes, divisionen sporsäcksvampar och riket svampar.[2]
