Pennvässare
En pennvässare (även pennformerare) är ett kontorsredskap som används för att vässa pennor, det vill säga skala av pennan så att pennspetsen blir synlig, vass och lättare att skriva med. Företrädesvis används den till blyertspennor, men även kajalpennor och färgpennor av trä. Det finns både manuella och elektriska pennvässare. Pennvässare kan vara gjorda av olika material, till exempel plast och metall, och kan variera i storlek och färg. Det första patentet söktes 1828.
Pennvässaren har en invändig egg och används genom att man roterar pennan eller eggen.[1]
Ordet "pennvässare" är belagt i svenska språket sedan 1934.[1]

This is a collection of utensils associated with the 2 mm mechanical pencil represented by yellow artefact, by Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth, with a Faber-Castell H hardness leads container and a vintage sharpener for mechanical pencils marked "BREVETE DANS TOUS LES PAYS" and "SWISS MADE". The sharpener is used by mounting a lead in the mechanical pencil, extending it some 5 mm, inserting the tip of the pen in the hole in the top ball as far as it goes, and moving the protruding end of the pencil in a circular motion. The ball will guide the pencil and lead around the abrasive inner surface of the sharpener, and this grinds the lead into a sharp tip.
The sharpener can be divided into its parts by unscrewing the bottom. This releases the ball, and also allows the perhaps unsuspecting user to empty the grounds from sharpening.
