Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), Stillahavsflygvapnen, är ett av det amerikanska flygvapnets huvudkommandon med ansvar för flygvapnets styrkor baserade kring Stilla havet.[3][1]
Bakgrund
PACAF grundades den 3 augusti 1944 under andra världskriget. PACAF är ett av flygvapents två huvudkommandon med högkvarter utanför kontinentala USA: det andra är U.S. Air Forces in Europe.[1] Högkvarteret är beläget vid Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Operativt är PACAF en del av United States Indo-Pacific Command[2], bortsett från enheter i Alaska som står under Alaskan Command som är en del av United States Northern Command.[4]
Förband och enheter
I PACAF finns det tre numrerade flygvapnen i aktiv tjänst samt associerade förband i Air Force Reserve Command och flygnationalgardet:
Fifth Air Force (5 AF)
Femte flygvapnet är baserat i Japan och samarbetar nära med Japans självförsvarsstyrkor. Närvaron av amerikanska flygförband syftar till att upprätthålla 1962 års försvarsavtal mellan USA och Japan (Mutual Defense Assistance Agreement). Befälhavaren för Fifth Air Force är i en separat roll även befälhavare för United States Forces Japan.

Seventh Air Force/Air Forces Korea (7 AF)
Sjunde flygvapnet är baserat i Sydkorea och har ett nära samarbete med Sydkoreas väpnade styrkor. Dess närvaro syftar till att upprätthålla förpliktelserna i 1953 års försvarsavtal mellan USA och Sydkorea (Mutual Defense Treaty).

Eleventh Air Force (11 AF)
Elfte flygvapnet genomför uppdrag i större delen av Stillahavsområdet, inklusive luftförsvar av Alaska, Hawaii och Guam.

Blazon
Party per bend vert and sable in chief a cactus (prickly pear) or, a bend azure fimbriated of the third, all within a bordure argent charged with nineteen crosses patee of the second.
Significance
The shield is divided diagonally into the original colors of the Air Service, green and black. Over the dividing line is a band of the Air Force’s, present colors, ultramarine blue and golden yellow representative of the Rio Grande River dividing the US and Mexico. On the green field is a yellow cactus commemorating the group’s first patrols along the Mexican border. Around the shield is a white border with black German crosses equal to the number of aerial victories credited to the Group’s original squadrons during the Great War.F-16 Falcons soar over South Korea Falcons soar over Kunsan AB.
374th Airlift Wing emblem

Fully armed Aircraft from the 18th Wing conduct an elephant walk during a no-notice exercise April 12, 2017, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. The 18th Wing operates combat ready fleets of HH-60 Pave Hawks, F-15 Eagles, E-3 Sentries and KC-135 Stratotankers, making it the largest combat-ready wing in the U.S. Air Force. HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, HAWAII (AFPN) -- The first Hawaii-based C-17 Globemaster III flies over Hickam Air Force Base and nearby Pearl Harbor for the arrival ceremony. Hickam is the first base outside the continental U.S. to permanently host the C-17. By the end of the year, the base will be home to eight C-17s. The 15th Airlift Wing and the Hawaii Air National Guard 154th Wing will jointly operate and maintain the aircraft.
