Neoptera är en infraklass bland bevingade insekter som till skillnad från infraklassen Palaeoptera har, eller hade förmågan att lägga vingarna utmed bakkroppen under vila. Infraklassen innehåller nästan bara bevingade insekter. Namnet syftar på grekiskan neo, som netyder 'ny', och ptera som betyder 'vingar'.

Systematik

Taxonet Neoptera föreslogs 1923 och 1924 av А.М. Martynov[1][2] Fylogenin för Neoptera visas i följande kladogram, som följer Wipfler et al. 2019 för for the Polyneoptera,[3] Johnson et al. 2018 för Paraneoptera, där Psocomorpha omfattar Phthiraptera),[4] och Kjer et al. 2016 för Holometabola.[5]

About 20 km south of Uniondale, South Africa

The genus Temnopteryx includes perhaps less than a dozen species of Zebra cockroaches, harmless, endemic to South Africa, mainly within the fynbos biome. Males with reduced wings, females wingless.
