Mecanumhjul
Mecanumhjul, även kallat ilonhjul, är ett hjul som kan röra sig i vilken riktning som helst.
Hjulet består av en rad rullar som är monterade på en cirkelformad ram. Det skapades 1973 och patenterades i Tyskland året efter av den svenske uppfinnaren Bengt Ilon.[1]

Photograph taken by Euchiasmus (me) on a conference exhibition stand which featured an electric trolley with Ilon wheels. This photo shows the back wheels of the trolley. The trolley had complete freedom of movement in any direction, and could also turn round on the spot.

Mecanum wheel control principle
Movements to any directions:
- a) Moving straight ahead
- b) Moving sideways
- c) Moving diagonally
- d) Moving around a bend
- e) Rotation
- f) Rotation around the central point of one axle
