Mörkryggig jakamar[2] (Brachygalba salmoni) är en fågel i familjen jakamarer inom ordningen hackspettartade fåglar.[3]
Utbredning och systematik
Fågeln förekommer i tropiska östra Panama och nordvästra Colombia.[4] Den behandlas som monotypisk, det vill säga att den inte delas in i några underarter.
Familjen jakamarer placeras ofta tillsammans med trögfåglarna (Galbulidae) i den egna ordningen Galbuliformes.[4] Studier visar dock att de är relativt nära släkt med de hackspettartade fåglarna och inkluderas allt oftare i denna ordning.
Status
IUCN kategoriserar arten som livskraftig.[1]

the male which I originally described, as likewise in another example in collection of Messrs.Salvin and Godman marked as being of the same sex, there is a small ferruginous patch on themiddle of the belly. It is probable, however, that this colour, which merely occupies the tipsof the feathers, would disappear in the perfectly adult male, and leave the belly quite white.In the female, which is generally similar to the male, this reddish brown patch is much moreextended, and occupies the whole of the middle of the belly.
