Jerome Hayden Powell, född 4 februari 1953 i Washington, D.C., är en amerikansk jurist som är ordförande (centralbankschef) för USA:s centralbankssystem Federal Reserve System sedan den 5 februari 2018[3], när han efterträdde nationalekonomen Janet Yellen på positionen.[4] Han har suttit som ledamot i centralbankens styrelse sedan den 25 maj 2012, när Powell blev bekräftad av USA:s senat på inrådan av USA:s 43:e president Barack Obama (D).[5] Obamas utnämnande av Powell var den första sen 1988 att en president hade utsett en ledamot från ett annat parti än vad presidenten tillhörde, Powell är registrerad republikan.[6]
Han har tidigare arbetat bland annat för senatorn Richard Schweiker (R); advokatbyrån Davis Polk & Wardwell; investmentbanken Dillon, Read & Co., bankkoncernen Bankers Trust, riskkapitalbolaget Carlyle Group och konsultföretaget Promontory Financial Group. Mellan 1990 och 1993 arbetade han också som statstjänsteman för USA:s finansdepartement och var först biträdande sekreterare för inhemsk finanssektor och sen undersekreterare för finans under de sista två åren.[7]
Powell avlade en kandidatexamen i offentlig förvaltning vid Princeton University och en juris doktor vid Georgetown University Law Center.[8]

The seal has most of the elements of the Board of Governors seal. A version is printed on all U.S. Federal Reserve Notes redesigned since 1996 (replacing the letter of the bank which printed the note, which was used in earlier designs).
Jerome H. Powell, Chair
Jerome H. Powell first took office as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on February 5, 2018, for a four-year term. He was reappointed to the office and sworn in for a second four-year term on May 23, 2022. Mr. Powell also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee, the System's principal monetary policymaking body. Mr. Powell has served as a member of the Board of Governors since taking office on May 25, 2012, to fill an unexpired term. He was reappointed to the Board and sworn in on June 16, 2014, for a term ending January 31, 2028.
