The process of oviposition
- Tapping with her antennae the wasp listens for the vibrations that indicate a host is present.
- With the long ovipositor, the wasp drills a hole through the bark.
- The wasp inserts the ovipositor into the cavity which contains the host larva.
- Making corrections, the oviposter must deposit the eggs into the larva or the wasp-larva will starve.
- After finding a host larva within the cavity, the wasp deposits her eggs.
- The wasp is still depositing her eggs.
