Florence Austral (1929)

Florence Mary Austral, född Wilson 26 april 1892, död 15 maj 1968, var en australisk operasångerska (mezzosopran).

Florence Austral debuterade 1922 som Brynhilde och vann stor framgång. Hon sjöng även bland annat Isolde och Aida och deltog i de årliga Händelkonserterna i Storbritannien.

Florence Austral, opera singer, 1929. Autographed photograph of Florence Austral. Florence Austral was born Mary Wilson at Richmond, Victoria, on 16 April 1892. She was also known by her stepfather's name of Fawaz, before adopting the name of her country as a stage name prior to her debut in 1922 at Covent Garden. Known as one of the world's greatest Wagnerian sopranos, Florence Mary Austral, married the Australian virtuoso flautist John Amadio in 1925 and toured widely with him in America and Australia.
