Florø kommun (norska: Florø kommune) var en kommun (stadskommun, norska: bykommune) i Sogn og Fjordane fylke i västra Norge. Kommunen omfattade staden Florø som samtidigt utgjorde kommunens centralort.
Administrativ historik
Florø kommun upprättades 3 januari 1861 genom utbrytning ur dåvarande Kinns kommun.[3] Kommunen hade 846 invånare vid upprättandet.[4]
Den 1 januari 1964 gick kommunen upp i Flora kommun. Kommunens hade då 2 040 invånare.[4]
Området utgör sedan den 1 januari 2020 en del av en ny kommun med namnet Kinn.
Kommunvapen
Blasonering: På raud botn tre sølv sildar i skrå-stilling.[5]

Kommunvapnet godkändes genom kunglig resolution den 19 februari 1960. Efter att Florø gått upp i Flora kommun 1964 godkändes samma kommunvapen för den nya storkommunen genom kunglig resolution den 6 oktober 1967. Motivet syftar på det rika sillfisket som länge varit stadens såväl som bygdens huvudnäring.[6]

Map of Florø city municipality in Norway (1861-1964)
The flag of the former municipalities of Florø and Flora in the (also former) county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. Its design is shared with the municipal arms, and shows three herrings, recognizing the importance of fishing—not only as a main livelihood in the area, but as the very reason why Florø was granted town status in 1860. The flag was approved by royal resolution for Florø 1960‐02‐19, and for Flora 1967‐10‐06.

Coat of arms for Sogn og Fjordane county (fylke), Norway.The coat of arms were granted on 23 September 1983. The arms show the geographical layout of the county: three large fjords protruding into the land. The three fjords are the Nordfjord, Sunnfjord and Sognefjord. As nearly all villages and towns are situated on one of these fjords and the name of the county is based on the fjords.
