Euston Station London The original Euston station opened in 1837 but was completely rebuilt in conjunction with the electrification of the West Coast Main Line between 1963 and 1968. The present station was designed by British Rails Midland regional architect, R. L. Moorcroft and team, and was opened by Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1968.The statue of Robert Stephenson was retained in the present forecourt following the demolition of the original station. This bronze sculpture was by Carlo Marochetti. http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/819.aspx

Euston station isn't everybody's cup of tea but it's a big, well-designed space that has historically coped with large passenger flows well. It does seem to have started creaking at the seams in recent years though, as the passenger numbers continue to climb.
Some praise due to Network Rail for building the new mezzanine level. I just wish they hadn't nailed that tacky light wooden cladding up everywhere else. It's like being inside a giant Argos flatpack. This is a logo owned by Transport for London for London Overground.

Euston tube station, Northern Line City branch, southbound platform In 1967, in line with the opening of the Victoria Line, and the construction of the new Euston main line railway station above, Euston tube station was substantially expanded and remodelled to cope with the increase in passenger numbers. The single island platform on the Northern Line City branch was suffering from dangerous congestion, so a new City branch northbound platform was constructed some way to the south and the old northbound track was removed to provide a wider southbound platform. Two new platforms for the Victoria Line were excavated between and parallel to the original and the new City branch tunnels to which they were directly linked.
