Pinebarren frostweed (Helianthemum corymbosum) (8273706583).jpg

The pinebarren frostweed is blooming. This plant is part of a large cluster along the trail at Juno Dunes Natural Area (south section). H. nashii is also listed as growing in Juno Dunes but I think these are H. corymbosum.

This is another low-angle morning sun shot of Pinebarren frostweed (Rock rose) at Juno Dunes Natural Area, this time with a Halictid micro-bee. This is a different blossom than the previous one pictured with the flower fly. I also decided that scrub or not, this is actually Pinebarren frostweed (Helianthemum corymbosum) and not H. nashii. I changed the name on the previous photo too.

I found one cluster of plants of a much lighter yellow variety of Helianthemum corymbosum, very distinct from the canary yellow ones. These are also called Rock rose. Juno Dunes Natural Area (South section), Palm Beach County.

This wraps up the few usable photos from this very windy day in the scrub!

The fleur du jour in the south half of Juno Dunes Natural Area was the pretty little Florida scrub frostweed. This one belongs to a flower fly (Syrphid fly) and she refused to leave it for the photo. Windy day.
