Although leafing out early summer and fully flowering by mid summer, Chenopodium remains photosynthetic throughout the summer, as shown here during mid August (the slender herbs to the front center and right of the wyoming big sagebrush in background).

Chenopodium leptophyllum (a native with narrow leaves) and Chenopodium album (exotic with broad leaves) commonly co-occurr especially along roadsides including some of the interior two-track and especially along the main gravel roads.
