The airlifter will be flown by the 517th Airlift Squadron and the AKNG's 249th Airlift squadron. Global Direct Delivery is the mission focus, while working closely with the Army to support Fort Richardson Soldiers and the Stryker Brigade.

A new era is ushered in for the 193rd Special Operations Wing Pennsylvania Air National Guard March 28, 2006 as EC-130E (left) and EC-130J commando solo aircraft take to the skys over South Central Pa. for the first and last time together. The E model, a Viet Nam era aircraft, makes way for the new J model whose engines are more efficient in allowing the aircraft to travel farther, faster and higher than before, a great capability for the broadcast mission of the 193rd SOW.
