Winchester Cathedral, Hampshire - 14472769612
It still dominates Winchester to this day and despite the Central Tower only rising 35 ft above the Cathedral Roof, it still manages a height of 150' (46m).
The massive West Window, smashed by Cromwell in the 17th Century was painfully put back together using what ever glass they could find. Therefore, the window is a bit like a mosiac. The view from the West Door is just exceptional. The vaulting reaches 78' (23m) tall.
The massive West Window dominates the whole of the interior and is only bettered in size by the East Window at York Minster and the East Window at Gloucester Cathedral.
The 150' Central Tower holds the only diatonic ring of 14 bells in the World.
Well worth a visit, if you ever visit Hampshire.Mer information om licensen för bilden finns här. Senaste uppdateringen: Thu, 08 Aug 2024 06:54:00 GMT
