An ultrasound visualisation of the spine of a foetus at 21 weeks of pregnancy. The foetus is affected by open spina bifida (spina bifida cystica). In the centre of this longitudinal scan a lumbar myelomeningocele appears as dome shaped structure attached to the lumbar region of the foetal spine. The foetus is facing downwards.
