Polysporina simplex (Davies) Vězda, 1978 (photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x40) showing apothecia with coal black disks) Growing on a rock outcrop on a thinly wooded hillside along Carrs Mill Road, 1 mile from Route 97, Howard County, Maryland, USA; collected and identified by Arnold Norden and Allen Skorepa (No. 6311, 11 May 1977); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
