Beskrivning:
Title: 'Origin of the cave door dance' (岩戸神楽之起顕, Origin of Iwato Kagura). Execution: Wada Yūjirō, Japan, 1889. Design: Shunsai Toshimasa (春斎年昌). Publisher: Kodama Matashichi (児玉又七). Combined 3 parts of the triptych: cf. KI 10404-1 + KI 10404-2 + KI 10404-3. The triptych has a representation from Japanese mythology. It's about the legend according to which the sun goddess Amaterasu (Amaterasu Ōmikami 天照大神), angry at her brother's wild pranks, hides in a cave and thus deprives the earth of its light. The other gods lure her out again by having the goddess Ame no Uzume 天宇受賣命・天鈿女命 perform a fertility dance that makes everyone laugh and the sun goddess curious. When Amaterasu peeks out of the cave exit, the other gods come towards her and escort her out with great fuss.
