Photograph of a herbarium specimen of Lecanora subrugosa taken through a dissecting microscope (x40), showing apothecia up to 1.2 mm broad, with red-brown disks and thick margins that are crenulate to verrucose.
Spot tests on the thallus: K+ pale yellow, KC-, C-, PD-.
This specimen of Lecanora subrugosa was growing on birch bark along the trail up Lead Mine Mountain next to the Washington-Hancock County Line, off Route 9 in Maine, USA. (Lat. 44o51.470' N, Long. 68o05.914' W)
