In Tingstad parish between Norrköping and Söderköping is one of the most prominent hill forts in the region of Östergötland. It has partly been investigated archaeologically by Bror Schnittger in summer 1909, when it was found cultural layers that suggested prolonged and continuous activity on the site. There were particular bargains imported from the continent in the form of a small decorated glass cups and glass fragments, a spiral-wrapped gold (guldten in Swedish) and more everyday items related to agriculture. Schnittger dating the hill fort to the Roman Iron Age.
