Göran Kropp leaving from Skinnarviksberget, Stockholm, Sweden, October 1995, on a six month bike trip to Mount Everest. His object was to transport himself from Stockholm to the summit of Everest and back under his own steam, carrying everything he needed for the trip and buying food along the way. The photo was taken using a Pentax LX camera, Fujichrome Professional color slide film and a 100 mm lens. This image is scanned from the original slide using an Agfa Snapscan flatbed scanner, hence the low resolution. The reason I was able to take this photo is that I was present at the press conference Göran held at Skinnarviksberget on the day of his departure. As a representative from the Swedish Climbing Association, as well as a personal friend of Göran's, I gave a short talk at the press conference, putting Göran's project into a historical perspective.
