Probably Sir Francis Weston, gentleman of the Privy Chamber and friend of King Henry VIII. He was accused of adultery with Anne Boleyn on trumped-up charges and executed in 1536. The picture bears the Weston arms: Ermine, on a chief azure 5 bezants with the inscription “Weston Esq. of Sutton, Surrey”, which is why many believe it to be of Francis Weston.
