BUILDING A FOUNDATION PILE - The excavation is done by a boring machine. Various drilling tools can be used (1). The excavation is supported either by steel pipes or (as shown in this scheme) by a bentonite suspension. When the excavation has started bentonite suspension is continuously pumped in. The suspension supports the borehole and avoids destabilization by water inflow (2). After reaching the requested depth the prepared reinforcement cage is put in (3). Concreting the pile using the contractor process while pumping off the upcoming bentonite. Contractor means that the pipe the concrete is filled in with always reaches into the concrete already filled in so it can’t mix with the bentonite (4).
