The arms were granted in 1965. The arms show in the upper left corner a sun wheel, derived from the arms of the medieval Sonnborn family. The family had their estate near Hiltrup. The anchor is here a symbol with two meanings - first for St. Clement, patron saint of the village and second for the canal port. The colours are derived from the colours of the State of Münster, to which the village historically belonged.
