af Chapman (ship, 1888) moored at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, Sweden, with it´s capstan placed next to the ship. Poles are inserted in the square holes and operated by sailors. The upper portion drives a shaft that operates the anchor windlass in the forecastle below.
