The night of 9/10 July saw me travel to the furthest point north on the Finnish rail passenger network - Kolari. The line is non-electrified beyond Kemi and as such nowadays is the only line to see diesel locomotive worked passenger trains. The route is very much centred on leisure traffic being busiest during the winter months with up to three trains on some weekend dates. During the summer, it runs largely to three trains per week. However these are usually around 9 carriages (6 × sleepers, 2 × seated and 1 × restaurant car) plus car carrying wagons. On 10 July 2016, Dr16 nos. 2818+2822 brought in train P263 "Aurora Borealis Express", 18:20 Helsinki to Kolari scheduled in at 09:46. The Dr16s took over the train at Oulu and on arrival performed a shunting movement with the train. To the left are the car carrying wagons, one being attached at Tampere with the larger white ones at Pasila just outside of Helsinki.
